1) An example of a French import US M1850 style Foot officer's sword measuring 36 1/2" overall with a 30 1/2" etched blade. The etching on the blade includes various foliate motifs along with some generic military motifs. Gilded brass hilt with a pierced foliate decorated guard. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray mottled patina. hilt has a mellow patina with only a trace of gilded finish remaining. Quillon is bent downward. Wire and grip are worn but complete. 2) An example of a German import US M1850 style Foot officer's sword measuring 36 1/4" overall with a 30 1/2" etched blade stamped "H S" in a logo on the ricasso. The etching on the blade includes various foliate motifs along with American patriotic and military motifs. Gilded brass hilt with a pierced foliate decorated guard. Wire wrapped wooden grip. Partial gilded brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray mottled patina. Hilt has a deep mellow patina with only traces of gilded finish remaining. Wire and grip are worn with no leather remaining. The scabbard appears to have the top 2 original mounts but the leather is an old replacement. No drag. (02-24169/BF). NON-GUN. $400-600.
