ALL: NSN. Bbls. 39" w/ barleycorn front sights. 3 Band walnut stocks w/ iron bands & ramrods. Brass fittings consist of buttplates, trigger guards, sideplate escutcheons & nose caps. 1) Cal. 60. Smooth bore. Base for rear sight has wood filler. Lock has crown behind hammer & is marked "1862 / TOWER" forward of hammer. Toeline of stock is stamped "J. SMITH". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: hand written collector's tag related oral history stating that the musket was "Captured at Vicksburg from Confederates by Williams Nicholls, 15TH Iowa, CO. G.". CONDITION: metal has cleaned gray appearance w/ scattered rust that becomes heavy in breech area. Front bbl. band is missing. Refinished stock has dark worn appearance w/dents & handling marks having wood erosion above lock. Dark pitted bore. (01-18237/DS). 2) Cal. 577. Rifled bore. Graduated leaf rear sight. Lock has crown behind hammer & is marked "1863 / TOWER" forward of hammer. CONDITION: metal has cleaned gray appearance w/ general pitting. Refinished stock has dark worn appearance w/ cracks & epoxy fill. Dark heavily pitted bore. (01-18327/DS). ALL ANTIQUE. $700-1,000.
