<Our item number 140104><B>Two Samoan Press Passes During The 1899 Civil War Plus An Autograph.</B> Two 1899 manuscript press passes for Mr. Boyd, correspondent of the London Graphic, permitting him through the lines during the British intervention in the Samoan Civil War. Both from Apia &#40;Samoa&#41;; one dated 2 March and headed &#34;General Pass for all dates&#34; and signed by Lt. Gurner, Royal Navy; the other is headed &#34;H.B.M. Naval Guard,&#34; dated 16 March, and signed by G.E. Cave, Lt. R.N. Commanding. Rare souvenirs of the crucial British and American operations in Samoa in 1899. Both age toned.<BR><BR>With the signature of Henry C. Ide on a 2½ x 3½ in., c.1900.
