MORE SHOT”. These 2 Roger’s groups measure approx. 24" tall x 10" in diameter. One of the more popular of the John Roger’s plaster castings are these examples titled, “Wounded in the Rear One More Shot”. They were designed as early as 1864 & casting began in 1865 & lasted to the dawn of the new century. John Rogers worked in a studio in New York & produced many Civil War themed sculptures. These two depict a Union private in a 9 button frock coat standing over a wounded comrade who appears to have been shot in the leg. He is destined for a hospital site to the rear of the front lines. The left "ONE MORE SHOT" Roger's statue which appears darker may be an early forgery. CONDITION: 1) there are a few minor chips to the surface glaze but no significant damage is noted. 2) this example shows significant surface wear w/ loss of finish over about 50% of the statue. There is a noticeable chip on the top of the hat of the standing soldier. Otherwise, the statue is quite solid. (02-14318/BF). $500-800.
