BOTH: cal. 30 Rem. Bbls. 22" w/ patridge based front blades & no rear bbl. sight provision; equipped w/ Lyman 41R receiver sights. Improved version of Model 8 mfg. 1936-1950 (56,091 units) w/ takedown bbls. utilizing coin slotted screw in forend along w/ forend encased bbl. lever. Offered in numerous Remington proprietary rimless cartridges designed to compete head to head w/ Winchester's popular cartridges. 30 Rem. duplicated Winchester's popular 30-30 cartridge. Remington family of cartridges are all discontinued except popular 35 Remington. Side lever safeties & non detachable 5 rd. mags. Lg. diameter appearing bbls. are actually jackets housing bbl. contained w/in recoil spring. Plain pistol grip stock sets w/ Remington checkered steel buttplates. 1) S# 16872. Receiver extension marked "EL3" (Oct. 1942) & "AN3" (Mar. 1966); 3 portion of code indicates service repair. Aspects of factory repair are hand stamped S# on bolt, receiver extension & bbl. jacket which has prior no. X'd out plus more X'd out numbers on bottom left side of receiver extension. Below"SAFE" is screw head restricting safety lever movement but wear marks indicate prior additional movement. Action screws & receiver sight base screws are military style staked by prick punch. CONDITION: good overall appearance w/ numerous marks throughout wood & metal. Patina appearance in grip area having sm. chip at bottom front right. Sides of buttstock (especially left) have slight crazed appearance as if next to heat source. Near excellent bore. (20-400/NW). 2) S# 16645. Receiver extension codes Aug. 1941. Only sight base screws are staked. Safety lever movement not restricted. CONDITION: overall appearance noticeably better than previous rifle but still w/ numerous light marks especially on stock set. Buttstock has 4" crack extending from surface of top tang rearward into comb. Additional crack creating triangular flaw at top left front of buttstock. Near excellent bore. (20-401/NW).
