1) OVER AND UNDER RIFLE SHOTGUN COMBO BY HENRY GABLE. Cal. 44., (42 cal smooth bore). NSN. Bbl. 32 1/2" oct. 2 Bbl. set has top bbl. fitted w/ V-notch rear & brass blade front sights. Top flat engraved "H. Gable" (Henry Gable of Williamsport, PA. circa 1850). A hickory ramrod on left side & another ramrod w/ worm on right are held by plain iron pipes. Back spring isolated percussion locks have rudimentary stamped engraving. Right lock marked "Riddle". Walnut stock is brass mounted w/ crescent buttplate having 3" return. Trigger guard has finger spur at front & scroll termination at grip. Round brass patchbox has fancy pineapple finial. On left side of stock there is an engraved brass plate on bottom edge of sm. cheekpiece & a inlet silver bird is above. CONDITION: fair to good. Iron parts mostly dark patina, locks & hammers w/ cleaning. Stock w/ old refinish & repair to trigger guard mounting pin on right side. Brass is fairly bright yellow, lightly toned. Bores are fine. Locks & triggers are operable. 2) OVER UNDER RIFLE SHOTGUN WITH LOCKS MARKED "HENRY F. RICE". Cal. 40 / 14 Ga. NSN. Bbls. 30", set is unmarked & appears blacksmith made. Ramrods on each side are held by plain iron pipes. Back spring isolated percussion locks have scroll engraving w/ in geometric borders & are also engraved "Henry F. Rice". Plain American Walnut Stock has crescent brass buttplate & is checkered at grip. CONDITION: good. Bbl. is mostly dark black w/ scattered marks & pitting. Locks dark brown patina. Stock is what is most likely an old refinish. Rifle bore is fair to good w/ visible rifling, considerably pitted, shotgun bore also dark & visibly rusted. Locks are operable.
