This pair of Japanese ceramic vases with matte green glazes are believed to date from the early 20th century and likely come from the island of Awaji, which was known for their monochromatic green and yellow glazes. Each features woven split bamboo weaving around the neck. The larger measures 21" high and 11" across and the smaller one measures 18" high and 8" across. No hallmarks of any kind. Overall condition is very good. The light areas on and near the lips on both vases suggests each has had some degree of restoration. These items reside on the upper west side of Manhattan ( New York city ) and may be seen by appointment.
