1) HEAVY BBL. PERCUSSION FULL STOCK RIFLE MARKED "BE" (BARNEY ENGLE). Cal. 45. Bbl. 46 1/8", oct. w/ sm. V-notch sight, w/ elevator & silver bead front sights, engraved "BE" on top flat (Barney Engle, son of Peter Engle, working in Greensboro, PA 1833-1878, known to have marked percussion guns 'BE'). Front spring percussion lock is unmarked & has stamped engraving at rear. Stock of nicely fiddle figured maple extends to muzzle & has sm. right hand cheekpiece & is brass mounted. Crescent buttplate has 2 1/2" return. Trigger guard has finger spur & rear curl. Interesting sideplate has spear finial at front & diamond at rear. A German silver circle let into cheekpiece is engraved C.P.M. CONDITION: fair to good, iron parts w/ dark brown to black patina, some cleaning on lock & engraved area on top of bbl. to more easily read initials. Stock w/ old refinish, has considerable loss to wood on both sides of bbl. channel. Ramrod is missing. Triggers will not set. Lock operable w/ front trigger. Lock screw replaced. (01-19015/MGM). 2) PERCUSSION FOWLER. Full stock fouling piece w/ lock by H. & W. C. BIDDLE Co. Cal. 62. NSN. Bbl. 33 1/4", oct. to rnd. smooth bore has had octagonal portion reshaped leaving V-notch rear sight on raised platform. Front spring percussion lock stamped w/ maker's name & "PHILADELPHIA". Maple full stock w/ light fiddle figure is brass mounted. Buttplate has 3" fancy engraved top strap. Trigger guard w/ floral engraving on bow has curl to rear grip. Hickory ramrod is held by 2 beaded pipes & matching thimble. CONDITION: fair to good. Iron parts dark brown patina w/ silver highlights from cleaning. Stock w/ old oil refinish appears sound. Brass once cleaned is toned to an even mustard color. Lock will not hold at full cock. Fair to good bore w/ some pitting. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19017/MGM).
