2 Estate Watercolors, signed Edward Matthews with gold gilt matching frames. Wonderfully done mountain scenes with wildlife, amazingly detailed. Professionaly framed and matted, under glass. Edward Matthew Ward RA (14 July 1816 – 15 January 1879) was an English Victorian narrative painter best known for his murals in the Palace of Westminster depicting episodes in British history from the English Civil War to the Glorious Revolution. Edward Matthews was a highly skilled artist adept at capturing quickly changing light often at the extremities of the day. He was a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and his works consist mostly of Highland and Lake District scenes.
