1) BELGIAN COPY OF U.S. TRAPDOOR. Cal. Unknown 45 cal. cartridge. NSN. Bbl. 32 1/2”. Belgian copy. Receiver marked underneath w/ Belgian proofs. Early style trapdoor w/ center hinge extractor & U shaped spring ejector. U.S. beveled edge lockplate dated “1864”. 2 Piece U.S. trigger guard. Buttplate tang marked on top “US”. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1,000m. Stud front sight. “U” marked bbl. band. Incorrect brass ramrod. Unmarked 1 piece walnut stock. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 18” socket bayonet resembling U.S. 1873 bayonet w/ locking ring. Shows traces of blue, turning overall gray & patina w/ oxidation & fine pitting throughout. CONDITION: stock set has been cleaned & refinished w/ light wear & scattered scratches. Metal has turned gray & patina w/ wear, scratches & scattered oxidation. Good bore w/ strong rifling. (01-17629/RW). 2) 1878 TRAPDOOR. Cal. 45-70. S# 36821. Bbl. 32 1/2”. Model 1879 rear sight graduated to 1,200 yards. Stud front sight w/ pinned blade. Low arch breech block dated “1884”. 3 Position tumbler. 2 Piece trigger guard. Swivel bow not present. Walnut stock. Legible “SWP 1882” inspector’s mark. Stock has been shortened approx. 7 1/4” above lower band. Stock tip & upper band not present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 18 3/4" blade socket bayonet w/ unusual slant cut mounting notch. Has locking ring. Bayonet has partly obscured view marks. Bayonet is heavily oxidized w/ pitting & wear. CONDITION: stock has wear, dents & scratches throughout. Sm. cracks & chips around trigger guard. Metal has turned overall gray & patina w/ oxidation & fine pitting throughout. Notable pitting & water damage on buttplate. Bore has strong rifling w/ scattered pitting throughout. (01-17630/RW). BOTH ANTIQUE. $300-500.
