1st model Le Mat revolver in prime Confederate serial number range showing .42 caliber 9 shot cylinder on axis revolving around .63 caliber smoothbore barrel for firing shot. This Le Mat is serial number 156 and falls between Jeb Stuart’srevolver (serial number 105) and serial number 163 which is marked “Company A, 18th Georgia Regiment”. The metal surfaces show a dark brown patina finish with some cleaning and coloring on the top of the barrel. The address on the top ofthe barrel has been worn down and is not legible. The L and M marking and serial number are legible on the right side of the breech. The loading rod spring and plunger are well-made restorations. The grips are worn with just traces of checkering and are in fair to good condition overall. The movable firing piece shows some chips and losses to the edges and some dents from firing but is original. This 1st model Le Mat would be considered good overall and they are not oftenfound with any condition. All matching visible serial numbers. . The collection of William A.
