1st Variation Lahti L-35 Semi-Automatic Pistol, #2245, 9mm, 4.7'' barrel, blue finish, brown checkered plastic grips with VKT logo, cut for shoulder stock, with rounded Loaded Chamber indicator; early narrow upper receiver marked ''VKT/L-35''; rear portion raised area with forward protrusion for locking block spring (omitted from later models); with etched letter ''E'' to right side of trigger and takedown latch. Produced from 1939-1941 in serial range 1105-3700, with estimated production approx. 2600. All Lahti pistols were uniquely designed with a slide accelerator to aid in their operation in severe cold weather. This is the only variation of the L-35 pistol used by the Finns against the Russians in their Winter War. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 96% Finnish military blue, with most of the losses to front and backstrap. Grips are crisp. Action is tight, bore is mirror bright. An excellent example of a very difficult-to-obtain European service pistol. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (C&R)
