CDV of Captain Henry Rogers Dalton of the 1st Massachusetts Heavy Artillery. Identified in pencil on front lower margin as ''Capt Dalton.'' Dalton was commissioned into the 1st Massachusetts Heavy Artillery on 10 February 1862. He was promoted to Captain and then Major before resigning on 25 November 1864. During his service, the regiment saw action at Winchester, Spottsylvania, North Ana, Cold Harbor and Petersburg. CDV has mild surface and edgewear. Excellent condition.
