First Lady Edith Roosevelt Autograph Letter Signed “Edith Kermit Roosevelt”. Two pages, 4.5” x 7”, on Sagamore Hill letterhead, Oyster Bay, New York, “Tuesday”, to a Miss Leupp. A charming letter in which Edith Roosevelt, second wife of Theodore Roosevelt, invites a young woman to Sagamore Hill for a visit. She writes in part: “Mr. Roosevelt has promised to take this note and see if you can come to spend Thursday night with us. There are several afternoon trains and I hope you will cease pondering why the old find it difficult to compete with the young…”. The Miss Leupp in question may be the daughter of Francis E. Leupp, a friend of Teddy's and his Commissioner of Indian Affairs. With the usual fold creases, else fine. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
