This is an authentic linen banner used by Company B of the 1st Iowa Cavlary during the Civil War. The unit was mustered in for three years of Federal service from July 30 to September 12, 1962. Most notably, the unit participated in the Battle of Roan's Tan Yard and the Battle of Prairie Grove. The banner is made from linen and reads "Headquarters Co. B. 1st Iowa Cav.". This is a RARE Civil War piece that has resided in a private collection for generations. The piece is in good overall condition. There are some some minor stains and darkening as shown. The banner measures 20" x 35.25".
