This work discusses the discovery and development of certain areas of America. Specifically mentioned are the discovery of the Mississippi and the opening of the Pacific railroad. There is discussion of the interactions with the indigenous people of America. Illustrated, with twelve chromo-lithographic plates and several vignettes. Henry Howe was an American author who wrote histories of several states in the United States. His most celebrated work is the three volume Historical Collections of Ohio.
In a leather bound red cover with gilt lettering and stamping to the boards and spine, spine torn at top of front cover seam, cover displays wear consistent with normal use, pages have foxing throughout, pages are intact. Overall condition is good especially considering its age.. Measurements are 9.5"L x 6.5"W x 2.5"D
