Included in this lot is a Rare First Edition of, Helena, Montana Past, Present and Future", 1891, published by Arthur W. Ide & W. D. Rumsey Helena, Montana, with Illustrations from Photographs by H. J. Lowry. Designed, illustrated and printed by The South Publishing Co. 76 Park Place, N.Y. Helena was founded as a gold camp during the Montana gold rush, and established on October 30, 1864. Due to the gold rush, Helena became a wealthy city, with approximately 50 millionaires inhabiting the area by 1888. Helena was the territorial capital in 1875 and became the state capital in
1889. The first third of the book focuses on Helena, while the balance features Montana's mineral resources and agricultural irrigation. IDE's 1891 Map of Montana featured on the end page. This book was originally part of the library of the Historical Society of Montana. This green cloth bound gold gilt titled hardcover is in nice preserved condition, very slight scuffing exhibited to cover edges. intact pages have age tanning throughout, library repaired (tape) page tears. Measures 6.75"W x 10.5"L x .5"D, weight 1lb.
