19th Century photogravure print Rouget D L'Isle Singing The Marseillais For The First Time ( a scene of The French Revolution, The French National Anthem ) from an Imperial Edition of The Masterpieces of French Art published in the 1880's by Goupil et Cie, after the original painting in the Luxembourg Gallery by J.A.A. Pils. 10 1/2" X 14 1/2". * some foxing & staining, per photos.  "La Marseillaise", the national anthem of France was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in Strasbourg after the declaration of war by France against Austria, and was originally titled "Chant de guerre pour l'Armee du Rhin".  Â
