Pair of engravings of 18thc Connecticut statesmen, signatories of The Declaration of Independence, Roger Sherman & Sam Huntington. From an 1846 history book, engraved by J. B. Longacre & S.S. Jocelyn. Approx 5 1/2" X 9 1/2" each. * heavy foxing to margins due to age, as seen in photos. Roger Sherman ( 1721 - 1793 ) was an early American statesman & lawyer, as well as a Founding Father of the United States. He is the only person to have signed all four great state papers of the United States: the Continental Association, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, & the Constitution. Samuel Huntington ( 1731 - 1796 ) was a jurist, statesman, & Patriot in the American Revolution from Connecticut. As a delegate to the Continental Congress, he signed the Declaration of Independence & the Articles of Confederation.
