John Eager Howard ( 1752 - 1827 ) was an American soldier and politician from Maryland, elected as governor of the state in 1788, and served three one-year terms. He also was elected to the Continental Congress, the Congress of the United States. Robert Young Hayne ( 1792 -1839 ) was an American lawyer, planter and politician, serving in the United States Senate from 1823 to 1832, as Governor of South Carolina 1832–1834, and as Mayor of Charleston 1836–1837.   James Asheton Bayard Sr. ( 1767 -1815 ) was a lawyer and politician from Wilmington, Delaware. He was a member of the Federalist Party, who served as U.S. Representative from Delaware and U.S. Senator from Delaware.   Â
