19th century Blunderbuss of Mexican origin with tower marked block, cast bronze cannon barrel, crudely made Mexican stocks, mounts and fittings. The arm measures 39-1/2" overall with 23-1/4" bell mount cannon typebrass barrel which measures approximately 1-1/2" across the bore with very thick walls to the cannon barrel. The left side of the barrel shows British V P proofs with TH barrel makers mark. The center part of thebarrel is nicely engraved "Cavite Hacienda de Recoletos en Ymus 6 licencia para iuarla 3 de Enero de 1842" and dated with a crown and R proof near the breech. This blunderbuss was sold by Little John's about 2 years agoto a prominent collector in Prescott, Arizona who is now retiring and has reconsigned this blunderbuss and his collection.
