Thompson, concerning an exchange of officer's with the U.S. ship St. Louis “<I>your request will be granted, when it is ascertained that the grounds upon which it is predicated shall have really existed</B></I>”, toned with the usual fold creases, else very good; one page of Navy orders dated May 14, 1853, instructing an officer to proceed to Philadelphia for examination before a board of inquiry, with several endorsements, toned with the usual fold creases, else very good; a one page letter, dated April 12, 1818, from James Pleasants, Jr., United States Representative from Virginia, to the Secretary of the Navy, Benjamin W. Crowninfield, recommending Richard Watkins of Chesterfield County, Virginia for nomination to midshipman, toned with the usual fold creases, else very good; a one page letter dated March 3, 1835 from a Mr. Peyton to Commodore Isaac Hull, thanking him for the gift of a cane made from wood of the ship Constitution; toned with the usual fold creases, else very good; and a three page letter from Allen McLane of Delaware to a General Green requesting ammunition for ship's cannons, paper toned with the usual fold creases, else very good. <I>Ex.
