This is a lovely little open salt with a perfect cobalt blue liner and very nice detail. Etched are some forms that I will guess are leaves. These are bordered by a very delicate line above and two delicate lines beneath. The upper rim is completed with a very fine beading.
There are marks on the bottom. AP/1890, 84 and an image, I am told, of St. George Slaying a Dragon. Below this is an N (I would describe as backwards)P.
Despite the age of this vintage salt it is in wonderful condition. I see no scratches, but there is a very minor soft dent on one side. Perhaps 1/4 inch long. I believe this can be pressed out, but I prefer not to try.
It stands 1.5 inches tall and 2 inches across the top. The base measures 1 inch.
This charming little bowl seems rich with history. Holding it, one can't help but wonder where it's been, how it got here and about the many tables it must have graced.
