<B>19th Century Documents With Early Postal Content.</B></I> A pair of items including an autograph letter, 8" x 9.75", dated October 15, 1835, "Post Office Department, Northern Division", signed "<I>S R Hobbie Asst P M Genl</B></I>", to John Cook and William Sawyer of Windsor County, Vermont. Hobbie writes in part: "<I>...Babbit and Hill are the Contractors on Route No. 209 Montpeliar [sic] to Woodstock Vt. and obligated to transport the mail tri weekly (such way) in 4 horse Post Coaches for the annual compensation of...</B></I>". The letter has been affixed to a backing sheet, displays the usual fold creases, else is in very good condition. Accompanying the letter is a printed document, 5" x 8", Washington, October 1, 1852, publishing postage rates for volumes of the Proceedings of the American Scientific Association.
