19th Century Crow Beaded Men's Leggings
The lot features a set of Crow beaded men's leggings dating to the late-19th century from Montana. The set shows a trade dark green clothe body with petit geometric beadwork on hide and additional trade clothe with trade thread sewing. The beadwork is all 19th Century glass trade petit seed beads showing chalk white, greasy green, amber, and cobalt / royal blue. The set shows Indian tanned hide under the beadwork and Indian tanned hide ties on old dark purple trade clothe with nice fading from age, evenly on both sides as well as some small holes. The bottom beadwork section is original and was likely added to the green trade clothe later, but still early. Green section shows some additional Indian hide ties with wound glass trade beads. Provenance: From the Robert Dickens aka "Little Blue Hand" Chicago, Illinois and Livingston, Montana collection. The leggings each measure overall 31.5"L x 10.75"W.*
