19th Century Coin Chalice. A large size chalice that is 10 3/8 inches at the top and 7 7/8 inches tall. Approximately 96 coins are imbedded, and the latest dated coin we have seen is 1835. Among the more notable coins imbedded are an 1802 half dime, 1796 dime, Waterloo medal, 1703 Vigo crown, and a 1746 Lima half crown. There are also a couple of gold coins that have been silver-plated to give the chalice a more uniform appearance. The larger, crown-sized coins are set in at the top, the half crown sized pieces follow on the next row, and so forth. The coins are set in a silver chalice that has hand-worked filigree ornamentation between the coins. The base of the bowl has been repaired. A fascinating bit of numismatica, and an item that is infrequently seen today.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
