19th Century Blacksmiths' Horseshoe Display Case / Sign. ?This impressive Horseshoe case display was made by James Harper Dias, a blacksmith in Irwin, Pennsylvania in 1889. Made of walnut, it was exhibited in 1893 at the Chicago World's Fair. The case contains 36 horseshoes, including racing shoes, correcting shoes, and pictorial and unique one-of-a-kind shoes. An original and uniquely American antique. The case has been passed down through one family, and can be seen in photos from the Blacksmith Shop, and then the Dias Auto Garage in the same location in Irwin, PA. After removal from the Auto Garage it was transported to Arizona by the descendants. According to the family, the case has never been opened or restored. 5 feet x 4 feet.
