19th C. humorous invention advertiser for James L Libby "Dead Shot" collar, paper in original period frame from distinguished Deadwood pioneer Henry Frawley estate. Frawley (1851-1927) arrived in Deadwood SD July 1877 having received his law degree the year before, establishing a successful law firm, became resident attorney for Burlington and Missouri Railroad, established the historic Frawley Ranch in Centennial Valley between Deadwood and Spearfish, and was involved in many successful mining interests in the Black Hills his early clients included notable people such as Sol Star, Phoebe Hearst, Seth Bullock and many others. It is indicated that Henry Frawley was one of the most successful trial lawyers in the area as well as among the best read men in the state of South Dakota with an extensive law and private library that even by todays standards remains extremely impressive and remaining in the family. The framed advertiser shows good original condition some scattered losses to frame, paper yellowed and darkening from age and is said by the family to have hung in Henry Frawleys law office in Deadwood.
