Featured in this lot is a Vintage Pair of Wooly Angora Pelt Stagecoach Drivers Gloves circa 19th century. The gauntlets feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted Wooly Angora and leather construction that features corduroy and felt cloth linings to the inside of the gauntlets. The angora fur shows curly auburn brown fur that shows a slightly light brown sheen. Provenance: the Owen D. Mort, Jr. Collection. Owen David Mort was an American engineer who amassed an impressive collection throughout his worldwide travels. His collection has included art, artifacts and other historical items from which he has donated to museums at the University of Utah and Snite Museum of Art, the University of Notre Dame, including African, Afghan, Indian, Mughal, Persian and Far East Asian art and artifacts. The outside of the gloves are covered with wooly angora fur except for the palms which are leather. The overall condition of this pair of gauntlets is fair with loose and missing stitching around fingers, hole on right hand fourth finger. The measurements of these gauntlets are 14"L x 10"W.
