The lot features an exquisitely beaded and quilled Indian hide pipe bag from the Sioux dating to the 19th-century, ex-Skinner auction. The pipe bag exhibits Indian tanned hide and is sinew sewn and adorned with a geometric beadwork pattern showing attractive detail and finished with parfleche rawhide fringes that are wrapped in porcupine quill quillwork. The beadwork shows colors of greasy yellow, chalk white, red white heart, cobalt, greasy pea green. The quillwork shows red and yellow mineral pigment colors.

Provenance: Previously found to be authentic and sold by Skinner Auctions 3536B Lot 156, now Bonhams Skinner; from a prominent Bozeman, Montana collection. Measures overall 32 1/2" x 7 3/4".
