19th C. Sioux Pewter Inlaid Beaded Stone War Club
The lot features a beaded war club with pewter inlaid stone skull cracker head from the Sioux Indians of the 19th Century. The club features a bi-point solid stone carved head with geometric pewter inlaid ends and designs secured to the wood haft handle with wrappings of sinew and Indian tanned hide. The wood haft is wrapped in muslin trade clothe with banded geometric beadwork which is sinew sewn. The beadwork is all 1800's glass trade seed beads in colors of red white heart, chalk white, black, greasy medium green, medium blue. Each stone head end shows a flat end with three zig-zag lightning pattern connected with a single band towards the center. Truly a fine piece with rare pewter inlay from the 1800's. Measures 15.5"L by 7"L by 1 7/8" by 1.75".
