19th C. Navajo Transitional Men's Serape Blanket
This is a fine example of a late-19th-century Navajo Transitional period men’s serape blanket done in mohair wool. The textile is finely wone with Mohair wool showing a very soft profile with red field having a linear banded succession of diamonds in colors of cream / white and brown. Truly a classic representation of a Late Classic Man’s Serape Blanket. This is well preserved with some light wear. Provenance: From an ex-March in Montana sale; and a prominent Bozeman, Montana collection. The textile measures 54-inches by 35.75-inches.
