DESCRIPTION:
19th C. Chinese Carved Bamboo Scholar's Brush Pot - Excellent Patina. Old crack and staple repair, minor losses noted.
CONDITION:
This brush pot is is very good condition, there are some minor surface scratches and a couple naturally occuring cracks in the bamboo. The deepest crack at back has had an old repair with some type of wood filler or other similar product - the two main cracks at top and bottom of the brush pot at the lip has been secured with metal reinforcement cleats / staples to prevent the further seperation. At some point this brush pot was converted to a lamp base (see images of base where a groove has been made to accomodate the cord. The bottom of the brush pot is missing - probably lost at the time of the lamp conversion. The carved portion of this piece appears in very fine condition - no losses to carved figures or water/tree details.

THE MUMBLING MUSE maintains a highly specialized cargo insurance policy, particularly tailored for the shipment of antiques, collectibles and fine art. Specialized outbound shipping insurance at full value (hammer price + premium) is provided with all purchases. Items of significant value (Over $5000 CAD) or items requiring specialty custom crating, oversized etc. may be referred to a 3rd party professional shipper at our discretion.
HOW SHIPPING COSTS ARE CALCULATED - THE MUMBLING MUSE charges a small handling fee per order to help offset the cost of labour, insurance and premium packaging materials ($2.00 per $100.00 to a maximum fee of $50.00 per order) which is added to the ‘actual’ cost of the shipping label.
