The lot features a wonderful set of 19th-century men's beaded Indian buffalo hide hard sole moccasins from the Cheyenne. The set is comprised of Indian tanned buffalo / bison thick hide sinew sewn with hard buffalo rawhide parfleche bottoms. The tops and tongue are covered in classic Cheyenne geometric beadwork. The sinew sewn beadwork shows colors of chalk white, light blue, semi-transparent red, red white heart, and faceted black, all early glass trade seed beads. The tongue has a unique pattern of drop like tapering triangle design, covered in a tab like beadwork design and having yarn fringes with rolled tin metal jingle dangle cones on the end. The Indian hide ties are still presetn and the set is well preserved with msotly supple tops, no major damages or cracks and very little bead loss. The nice sinew threads can be clearly seen, an early beadwork attribute. The men's moccasins each measure 11-inches long by 4.25-inches wide by 4-inches high at the ankle.
