19th C. Carved Marble ANGEL Fragment
<p>
Architectural Winged Angel Head Medallion- HIGHLY DECORATIVE!
<P>

This outstanding antique Angel is beautifully carved in white marble. The piece is Italian in origin and dates to the last half of the 19th C. (c.1880). Beautifully carved, the Angel's face is back by the elegant wings.
<P>
Originally an architectural ornament, this winged Angel head once served as a decorative medallion above a doorway. Intended to be viewed from below, this antique sculpture is a perfect feature to set on a high mantle, bookcase shelf or table. The piece has a dramatic sculptural presence.
<P>
Newly mounted on a custom made polished iron base, the antique marble Angel is in wonderful condition, ready to display and enjoy. Expectedly, the marble has an aged patina, some dirt and grime. Preferring the natural aged appearance, we have left the piece just as found; others might wish to clean the marble for a more pristine appearance.
<P>
The Marble Angel (not including the base) measures approximately: 13" x 13". When set into the iron stand, the piece is approximately 22" tall.
