Rare 19th century
carved and molded mahogany Victorian folding stereoscopic viewer with magnifying
looking glass measuring 18 3/4 inches length,10 inches width x 4 1/4 inches
height (when closed), in excellent working condition (see images). The viewer
can be propped up to multiple viewing angles. The magnifier slides up and down
along the guide rods and can be used to magnify the prospective card you are
about to view. The back stop has two large clips to hold the card in place and
also adjusted to and fro until you are in perfect focus. Besides the 2 clips is
a translucent piece of glass, we believe could be useful when viewing the old
photos printed on glass plates. The 8 stereoscopic cards you see are
included so you can enjoy this item as soon as it is in your hands as it would
make a great addition to any fine collection or household. ****NOTE: Email for additional images.

Background:
Stereographic
photography was invented almost immediately after photography itself. Looking at
stereographs was as common in Victorian times as watching TV is
today.
