A hand made 19th century sheath knife, by knifemaker Gustaf Johan Berg of Eskilstuna, Sweden, who started a small knife factory which ran from 1863 until 1891. This knife has a 4.5 inch blade, with steel cross guard, and what appears to be nickel ferrule and pommel tip, on a carved ebony handle. Steel scabbard with acid etched serpentine pattern, marked No. 39. single hang ring. Maker marked on both knife and scabbard. Berg's brother was well known knifemaker C. W. Dahlgren.
