Scarce Royal Nepalese copy of a British Brunswick rifle. About 12000 of these were hand made in Nepal between 1840, and 1860. This example is one of the heavier versions that more closely resembled the British made Brunswick rifles. 30 inch barrel, with caplock (percussion) firing mechanism, side mounted bayonet lug, and twin groove rifling for banded ball. Brass trigger guard, with Nepalese markings underneath. Brass butt plate and patch box. Dark patina on both wood and metal surfaces. Ramrod appears original. .704 caliber bore is dusty and dirty from age, but appears sound and cleanable. Firing mechanism feels strong, and latching mechanism on patch box cover works good. Overall very good condition for the age. Caliber: .704
