<td width="100%">
Beautiful 19th Century gingerbread clock by the Waterbury Clock Company. When first introduced this style clock was called a "kitchen Clock", and eventually became known as the "Gingerbread Clock". They reached the height of their popularity in middle class Victorian homes in 1880, and were in vogue up until 1900. This clock is the "freehold" model by Waterbury, and is a one day string strike. The clock looks to be completely original with exception of the pendulum. I do not know for sure if it is not original, But it seems to me that it should be gold, not silver. The pendulum is old and of the right age, and has a sculptured head of a soldier with metal helmet. The original glass door is decorated with gold crane's in a pond among cattails. The case is in very good condition with no cracks. The finish is very nice. The clock does work and comes with it's key. The measurements are; 21 1/2" tall and 15" wide. The original paper label is on the back, and is legible, though somewhat stained.
