For sale is a wonderful gameboard, probably circa 1890 to 1900. It has a three board construction with an applied frame; the nails are small and appear to be square head. The gameboard is decorated with a painted, incised, cartouche at the top and bottom and the incised squares (64) are painted, half the red/brown of the cartouche decorations and half a pale yellow. The back side of the gameboard has a parcheesi, I believe, gameboard painted on. There is wear on the parcheesi side with some water spots and two places where a top layer of wood is missing. The checker board side has some indentations that are pictured as if small gunshot hit those spots. There is wear to the paint, some age separations of the boards, and some scuffs and scratches, all expected due to the age of the gameboard. It's a great piece and among the most collectible folk art today.
