Ornately engraved and gold plated .44-40 caliber Merwin & Hulbert patent revolver by Hopkins & Allen, S/N 20322. This revolver is LePage marked in scroll on the back strap and signed “L.I.” by engraver on trigger guard. The 19th century ivory grips are silver inlaid with American eagles. This revolver is a solid top style frame. The revolver shows almost 100% old rich gold gilt and sharp markings as reconditioned in 19th century by LePage. The action works well and the bore is a bit worn possibly from firing blanks in Wild West show. Recently discovered in France. A number of American frontier style arms have been found in France that were decorated for members of Buffalo Bills and other wild west exhibitions that toured there in 19th and early 20th century. We auctioned an engraved Smith & Wesson that belonged to a Senor Guzzman who stayed in France as he liked the wine and loved the ladies of Paris. (Antique) Est.: $25,000-$50,000
