Colt Model 1877 Thunderer .41 caliber Double Action revolver with 5” barrel, factory engraved with panel scene, nickel finish, pearl grips, shipped to Shreve & Wolf (The Tiffany of the West Coast), San Francisco, Calif, July 5, 1886, 1 gun in shipment denoting special order. Subject revolver shows 10%-20% drifting nickel with balance a natural patina. Some minor darkening and also minor pitting. Markings visible and good pearl grips with excellent fit. The left recoil shield shows a panel scene of cowboy roping a steer that is only visible with magnification. Action is working and good overall. About 300 factory engraved model 1877’s which are rarer in .41 caliber and only 1 we know of with cowboy action panel scene. Note: Shreve is still in business and has excellent records. May have been a rodeo prize as San Francisco hosted early events. (Antique) Est.: $6,000-$12,000
