Desirable Colt Root Model 7A .31 caliber percussion revolver, S/N 12549 with a 4 ½” barrel, fluted cylinder and in original case with accessories. This Root remains in original near fine condition with 70%-80% original blue finish drifting to plum on the barrel and cylinder but very bright and “Inky” on the frame. Good sharp markings and crisp overall with some light to moderate pitting on the cylinder. About 50%-60% light original scene and shows the ‘Screw in cylinder” as proper on this variation. The grips are near excellent with 85%-95% original varnish and a miniscule loss at the left heel with slight aging. Crisp action and good overall appearance. A good peacock flask, correct mold, cap tin and screw driver included. The case is very good plus overall condition and is authentic to the period. Provenance: The award winning Colt Collector’s Association member Malcolm R. Burnette Collection and author of “A Collector’s Guide to The Colt Root Sidehammer”. (Antique) Est.: $5,000-$10,000
