1997 American Silver Eagle one dollar coin, minted at the Philadelphia Mint and designated with the "P" mintmark. This proof coin is composed of 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver and displays the original Type 1 design. The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's historic "Walking Liberty" design, first introduced on the half dollar in 1916, with the sun rising at her feet and the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" to the right. The date "1997" appears at the bottom. The reverse, designed by John Mercanti, showcases a heraldic eagle with a shield, clutching arrows and an olive branch, with a banner in its beak inscribed "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Above the eagle are thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The inscriptions around the reverse include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER-ONE DOLLAR." The "P" mintmark is visible beneath the eagle's left talon. Graded by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as PF 69 Ultra Cameo, indicating a near-perfect proof coin with deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices. Encapsulated in a protective NGC holder. Slab: 2.25"L x 0.5"W x 3.25"H. Coin diameter: 39mm.
