1993 WACO Melody in Motion Coca Cola Santa Figurine in its original box. (Limited Edition: #1458 of 6000) Issued: 1993 Retired: 1993 Issue Price: $180.00 This is a beautiful handpainted porcelain bisque musical figurine. While the music "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas" plays, Santa moves his upper body up and down and his left foot taps up and down as well. The music is strong and the unit is in perfect working order. (The original batteries in the box were dead, so I have replaced them with fresh ones.) While the jolly image of Santa Claus is a world standard today, few realize that the image was established through a series of advertisments created for the Coca-Cola Company. The annual campaign started in 1926 and continued for several decades. The artist responsible for today's image of Santa Claus was Haddon Sundblom. The spirit of Sundblom's Santa artistry has been transformed into this three dimensional sculpture by SEIJI NAKANE in this Limited Edition figurine. The 1993 "COCA-COLA SANTA" was specifically inspired by Sundblom'S 1952 and 1955 Coke paintings. The top of the box has 2 small tears. . . one is 1 inch and the second is 1 1/2 inches. This is a rare, retired piece. Wouldn't it look and sound great on your mantel? (B333)
