<B>1989-90 Herschel Walker Game Worn Helmet.</B></I> Perhaps the greatest nomadic runner of all time. Seldom in the history of the NFL has any back put up his yardage numbers and been so adaptable to myriad offensive systems. His stint with the Minnesota Viking was productive, but probably moreso for the Dallas Cowboys team that traded him, because they recouped so much value in draft picks. This Air "Air Power" helmet with purple impregnation sports the traditional Vikings' Norsemen side logos in white with yellow front edging. The Vikings have never used outer shell identifiers, so the only link to Walker is the markered interior. The front of the helmet has a blank bumper suggesting that the helmet was used in 1989 or 1990, because in 1991, Walker used a customized front bumper. The mask is double reinforced running back cage, which was one of the styles used by Walker. Of note is the fact that the shell is equipped with a high hook-up snap, which is the style Walker always used. In 1990, that high hook-up was bolted on, suggesting that the helmet was a 1989 issue when he used a snap on clasp, or 1990 when the bolt on chinstrap was removed, and a snap was reinserted. The shell's interior sports an Air, and a double bladder padding system was the style predominately used by Walker.
