1985 Native American San Ildefonso Pottery Bear, Martha Appleleaf, measures 1.25'' x 2.75'', signed on bottom by artist, Artist Bio: Martha Appleleaf is from the San Ildefonso Pueblo. Martha Appleleaf creates traditional, handcoiled San Ildefonso pottery. Her pieces are to perfection. Born November 3, 1950, Martha Appleleaf is the daughter of Carmelita Dunlap (who was a niece of the famous Maria Martinez). She continues to do both black on black and the red pottery as well as polychrome and some more modern styles. Martha has been an active potter since 1970. She and her son, Erik Fender, are both featured in Fourteen Families. She has taken 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons at Santa Fe Indian Market and Eight Northern.
