1984 Roger Maris Marble Plaque Presented to His
1984 Roger Maris Marble Plaque Presented to His Best Friend. Breathtaking limited edition display is consigned to Heritage directly by Julie Isaacson, known to any serious Yankee fan as Maris' best buddy from his arrival on the New York scene in 1960 until his passing in 1985. "When Roger was going for the home run record he would eat only bologna and eggs for breakfast," Isaacson recalled. "Every morning we would have breakfast together at the Stage Deli. We had the same waitress, and I'd leave her the same five dollar tip every time. After, I would drive Roger up to the Stadium." Years later, in gratitude for his long and important friendship, Maris presented Isaacson with this remembrance of that incredible season, a wonderful likeness of the record-breaking swing etched in white marble. Isaacson explained that he chose number "45" of the limited edition of sixty-one, as the numbers added up to his buddy's uniform number "9." To the best of our knowledge, this is the only example ever to surface in the hobby, and Isaacson strongly suspects that far fewer than the supposed run of sixty-one was ever completed. The heavy marble plaque measures 12x16" in size, and is attractively framed to complete dimensions of 20x25". Included is a Certificate of Authenticity noting Isaacson as the recipient, signed in 10/10 blue ink by Maris himself. A truly special piece for the advanced Yankees collector who wishes to set himself apart from the rest. LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph).
