1982 1C Large Date Cent--Double Struck on a 84% Silver
1982 1C Large Date Cent--Double Struck on a 84% Silver, 16% Copper Planchet--MS64 NGC. 2.4 grams. A double error, since the piece is double struck, and it struck on a curious silver alloy planchet. The planchet is similar, but not identical, to the 90% silver, 10% copper, 2.5 gram standard for the pre-1965 U.S. dime. Although the insert states it is a flipover double struck, this is incorrect. The second strike is rotated about 180 degrees relative to the first strike. UNUM is faintly visible above CENT, and the 8 in the date is lightly apparent near IN. Other traces of the first strike emerge upon prolonged study. The second strike is off center a few degrees toward 9 o'clock. A remarkable mint error, unlikely to be duplicated.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
