Featured in this lot is this original, framed leather art made by Montana artist, James Cole (1927-2020). James Cole grew up in Livingston, Montana, with Paradise Valley and Yellowstone Park as his backyard where he developed a love for and great skills in hunting and fishing. He attended Montana State University (now the University of Montana) in Missoula. He was an avid artist and excelled in leather burning, creating amazing scenes showing high detail and craftsmanship. This piece shows a scene of buffalo grazing and standing around. There are adult and juvenile buffalo in the scene. The piece shows high detail in the buffalo showing great texture to their fur and facial expressions. The bottom middle of the piece shows the artist's hallmark stamp reading, "J Cole 81" showing that the piece was made in 1981. The piece shows good condition with no signs of obvious damage and is set in a wood frame and single matted. The visible art measures 16" L x 20" W, while the entire piece measures 23 3/8" L x 27 1/2" W.
